Bonfire Night

Nearly forgot, Bonfire Night tonight, the night that Jake hides under the settee.

For those of a non-UK persuasion, this is what the whole schmozzle is all about.

rhea...we had the cheap version of bonfire night in our garden - sat around the chimenea burning the wood that I had removed from the garage during the summer while watching other peoples fireworks for four hours - next year I WILL build that firepit :)

anon - shavemyyeti - one of those uses of the internet that makes you think ... why ?

My Son's Cub Scout Pack got together for Bonfire Night.

I had never heard of such a thing, but it turns out, one of the other little cub scout's mother is English, and their family celebrate Bonfire Night.

This year - they invited the whole pack of Cub Scouts (around 20 of 'em) over and we had a Bonfire, Hot Coco, Hot Cider, and heard the story behind, and description of Bonfire Night!

It worked, because my son was talking about Bonfire night again yesterday - a whole 4 days later! And for a 10 year old - that is amazing!

So Jerry, A belated happy Bonfire night to you from my family and me!

We'll have you educated into our ways before long :)

Burn a catholic efigy on Nov 5th, even the catholics do it !

There is however a school very close to here (in York) where Guido Fawkes was an old boy and celebrating bonfire night is forbidden - they don't publish their views on blowing up parliament though.
